Billing Boats Emile Robin - RC model kit in 1:33 scale
History of the original:
The lifeboat 'Emile Robin' was delivered by the Nordsøværftet shipyard in Ringkøbing in 1989. It is equipped with two engines, each producing 384 hp. The maximum speed is 11 knots (about 20 km/h) and it can sail for 20 hours at full power.
Emile Robin (1819-1915) was a Parisian merchant, philanthropist, cognac producer and vice president of the French non-profit organisation La Société Centrale de Sauvetage des Naufragés (Society for the Rescue of Shipwrecked). Robin supported rescue operations in a number of countries, not least in Denmark. In the period 1891-1913, he set up eight foundations with a total capital of 114,900 crowns to support Danish rescue workers and their families, and he donated barometers to several rescue centres. It is therefore only logical that a Danish lifeboat also bears his name.
MRB 20 "Emile Robin" is permanently stationed at the lifeboat station in Hvide Sande on the west coast of Denmark.
