German Waterpolice HE 4 RC model ship by Krick Modellbau
History of the original:
The HE 4 is one of the most modern boats in the Hessian water police fleet. This 15-metre patrol boat was commissioned by the Hessian water police in June 2006. It has been based in Rüdesheim am Rhein ever since. The HE 4 marks an important step in the modernisation of the Hessian Water Police. It played a central role in surveillance and rescue operations on the difficult stretch of the Rhine near Rüdesheim. It is a
Type WSP 4 and was built in 2005 at the SET shipyard in Genthin. It has the construction number 158. The boat is welded from seawater-resistant aluminium. Its equipment includes various communication systems and radar. To detect dangerous zones (gases, vapours), the boat has gas detection probes on the bow and mast. Appropriate countermeasures can be taken to allow the boat to navigate these zones. The mast can be folded down to a horizontal position. There is an external steering position and a boarding platform on the superstructure roof. At the stern there is a rescue platform with a fold-down ladder. The crane mounted on the deck edge can be swivelled manually. The rope is operated by a hydraulic motor. The stern railing is rotatable and can be swivelled inboard. Bollards and anchors are made of aluminium. The model was created based on original documents from the designer. Changes made by WSP Hessen have been incorporated so that the model corresponds to the current equipment status. Some original parts could not be implemented in the model due to their complexity. They have been simplified or omitted. It is up to each model builder to create these parts themselves based on their own research.
Description of the kit:
The hull is made of fibreglass epoxy laminate. The hull and deck are bonded in the mould during production. For technical reasons, the side of the hull could not be extended beyond the deck (approx. 0.7 mm on the model). A coaming has been moulded into the deck cut-out. This gives the deck sufficient stability and protects it from water ingress. A splash-reducing edge has been moulded into the bend of the hull in accordance with the original. This effectively prevents water from entering the deck in all sailing conditions. The kit is exceptionally well equipped. Many parts can be built to be movable, and the deck consists of a structural plate. The superstructure and many equipment parts are laser-cut. The fittings are mainly made of plastic parts. A 2-screw drive ensures smooth propulsion, and the choice of engines is entirely up to you. With 400 hp engines, sailing pleasure is guaranteed.
