Hoga - Pearl Harbour tugboat in 1:50 scale Billing Boats construction kit

History of the original:

This tug was registered by the American Navy on 22 May 1941 and was given the name "YT146 HOGA". It was then deployed with the 14th Naval Squadron in Pearl Harbour.

After only six months in service, the HOGA was put to a far greater test than expected when Pearl Harbor was attacked on 7 December 1941. HOGA fought continuously for 48 hours, extinguishing fires, towing bombed warships and rescuing sailors. Today, the HOGA is the only ship still in existence since the Japanese attack. Since 2015 she has been renovated in the Arkansas Inland Maritime Museum.

Kit contents description:

For the hull of this model, a keel is first built on a frame and then planked with mouldings. All wooden parts are precisely laser-cut. The equipment set is extensive, the parts are mainly injection moulded from plastic. Some fittings are made of brass. Building plan and building instructions are included. A simple model stand is included.

Motorisation and conversion to an RC driving model was not considered when planning the kit - however, conversion is possible after modifications to the frame structure.

The kit is aimed at modellers with extensive experience in ship modelling.

The multilingual building instructions consist of text instructions and explanatory drawings.
There are parts lists and colour recommendations. Good technical imagination is required here.
