History of the original:

Built in 1975 for Smit International BV in Holland, it was the largest and most powerful tugboat in the world when it was completed, with a displacement of 2,273 tonnes, a length of 75 m and 22,000 hp. It reaches 16.5 knots. The boat has bulb stems and bow thrusters, and the equipment includes the latest in navigation, steering and radio communication.

Kit presentation:

This kit is based on classic frame construction. Includes a thick package of precision laser cut plywood parts. The frame is very stable, made of 5mm plywood. The superstructure is also made of wood. Bulwarks made of plywood, the hull is planked with mouldings.   Shaft systems with simple bearings and plastic propellers. Rigid Kort nozzles made of injection moulding. The bridge fittings are also modelled from wooden parts. Includes a complete set of fittings and add-on parts. 3 bags of brass components, including many elaborate turned parts. Shaft supports, ladders, anchors and portholes made of plastic. A 1:1 construction plan and building instructions are included with the set.

Who is the kit suitable for?

The kit is aimed at very experienced modellers with good knowledge and plenty of practice in ship modelling. RC conversion and expansion to a functional model are possible here.

What else is needed?

Paints, adhesives and tools are required and can be found in our range.

Space must be created in the frame in good time for the installation of a transverse thruster.

What do the building instructions look like?

The multilingual building instructions consist of very brief drawings without detailed explanations. Parts list and overview plans. Good technical imagination is required here.
