Andrea Gail RC model wooden kit from Billing Boats
History of the original:
The Andrea Gail was a commercial fishing boat that left the port of Gloucester, Massachusetts, on 20 September 1991. The 6 sailors on board wanted to catch swordfish off Newfoundland. They never returned. It was assumed that the boat sank in a huge storm, which meteorologists called the "Perfect Storm". This was the basis for the best-selling novel of the same name, which was also made into a Hollywood film (The Storm).
Kit contents description:
The RC model is a frame construction. The sides of the hull are extensively planked with plywood, the underside with individual wooden planks. This model impresses with its countless details in plastic and brass. The kit contains a single bearing shaft with stern tube as well as propeller and rudder for driving. A detailed construction plan with many sketches is included. A model stand is also included.
