The aero-naut Torben is a realistic harbour tug RC model kit. The model is designed for powerful, controlled handling at low speeds and, thanks to its spacious hull, offers excellent conditions for the clean installation of the drive, RC components and optional special functions. Torben is suitable both for beginners in the field of working boats and for detail-oriented conversions.
Construction and design
The kit is based on a deep-drawn finished hull made of impact-resistant plastic. Many superstructure and equipment parts, such as the bulwark, crew compartment, funnel and other moulded parts, are also pre-formed, which speeds up assembly. The decks and numerous small parts are designed as stamped/pre-formed parts, and additions for hull extension and boat stands are included in plywood. A Kort nozzle is provided, which allows for good implementation of the typical tugboat thrust at low speeds.
RC equipment and operation
Torben is designed as a classic tugboat for motorised propulsion and rudder control. It typically has a high-torque, low-speed drive, in keeping with the prototype. The model can be configured for smooth, powerful manoeuvring and offers sufficient space for the battery and RC components thanks to its voluminous interior.
Scope of delivery and important information
The model kit contains the vacuum-formed finished hull as well as vacuum-formed parts such as bulwark, crew compartment, funnel, coaming, Kort nozzle, mast fairing, dinghy, fan and rope drum for the mooring winch. Also included are pre-cut decks with small parts, wheelhouse parts with pre-cut doors and windows, plywood stamped parts for boat stands and hull extension, motor mounting clamps, a ship's shaft, ship's propeller, spring coupling, brass wire and labelling on self-adhesive film. Construction plans and instructions are included in several languages.
The fitting set 303101 is required/sold separately and complements the equipment parts for significantly finer detailing. Drive motor, controller, battery, servos, remote control, adhesives and paints are required separately.
Area of application
The Torben is an RC functional model for ponds, lakes and harbour basins. Its tugboat design and spacious interior make it ideal for realistic manoeuvring and optional functional upgrades, such as lighting.
