History of the original:

Fairmount's main activities are long range ocean towing and salvage operations, with a fleet of five 200 tonne bollard pull tugs, the transport of heavy lift cargo by semi-submersible barges and the worldwide activities of Fukada Salvage with its modern fleet of offshore supply vessels and floating cranes. Fairmount operates a fleet of ultra-strong long-range towing vessels, semi-submersible barges including the 50,000 tonne capacity Gavea LIFTER and multipurpose offshore supply vessels.

This Dutch super tug can be built as a stationary or remote-controlled model.

Kit contents:

The kit is made entirely from precision laser-blasted plywood parts. The hull construction is based on the classic frame construction method and the hull is planked flat. All superstructure parts are also laser-cut from the finest plywood. The large number of very beautiful brass fittings is a delight. Only a very small number of plastic fittings are used. The shafts, stern tubes and rudders are also included in the set in good quality.

A building plan and multilingual building instructions are included in the set.

Who is the kit suitable for?

The kit is only suitable for experienced modellers, with a construction time of more than 400 hours to be expected!

What else is needed?

Paints, adhesives and tools are required and can be found in our range.

We recommend replacing the plastic screws supplied with more attractive brass screws. The front bow thruster can be made functional with a little skill, a ready-to-install module from Raboesch is available here.

What do the building instructions look like?

The multilingual building instructions consist of very detailed illustrated drawings without extensive explanations. A parts list and 2 large overview plans. Good technical imagination is required here.
