History of the original:

The Joffre was built in 1916 by the Ardrossan Dry Dock & Shipbuilding Co. and was used in Newcastle. She was used for coastal towing services as well as on the River Tyne. Unusually for tugs of the time, she had two towing hooks, the rear one being used for smaller tows. The Joffre is very well suited for the installation of the Alex steam engine with a horizontal boiler and gas tank. The installation is unproblematic in the spacious hull, but should be considered from the start of the model.

Description of the kit:

The Joffre kit is equipped with a GRP hull and CNC-cut wooden parts for the deck and superstructure. The deck parts have a laser-cut plank structure, doors and windows are also laser engraved. These milled structural parts significantly improve the accuracy of fit and make assembly easier. The lavish fittings set contains over 300 cast metal parts, some of which are very finely detailed and make the model look extremely realistic. Also included are 3 crew members with on-board dog. A shaft system is included, the moulded propeller can be replaced with a beautiful brass propeller.

Who is the kit suitable for?

The kit is not suitable for beginners in modelling, plenty of experience should be available.
Experience in working with glass fibre plastic parts is necessary.
