History of the original:

Built in 1931 at Frederikshavns Værft og Flydedok A/S. For many years it sailed under its original name "St. Knud" as a tugboat and icebreaker in the harbour of Odense (Funen). "St. Canute" is 28 metres long, 7.60 metres wide and has a draught of 3.80 metres. St. Canute is now owned by a Swedish interest group whose aim is to restore the ship so that it can be used to tow coal barges between Stocka in Hälsingland and Stockholm in the future. The steamer is known today under the name "Stockvik".

Kit contents description:

This kit is built in the classic frame construction method. The frame is planked with 1.8x5mm mouldings. The superstructure is precisely cut out of wood with a laser. Rudders, a propeller shaft with plain bearings as well as a stern tube and propeller are included for the optional drive with electric motor. The equipment set is extensive, the parts are mainly injection moulded from plastic. A ship's shaft with plain bearings and a 3-blade ship's propeller are included. Building plan and building instructions are included. A simple model stand is included.

The kit is aimed at modellers with extensive experience in ship modelling.

What else is needed?

Paints, adhesives and tools are required and can be found in our range.

A MAX Power 400 is recommended as the drive. Due to the higher torque, we recommend the MAX Power 450, although the recess in the wooden bulkhead must then be slightly enlarged. There is plenty of space in front of the motor for the battery. Either a 6 V lead-acid battery or a 7.2 V racing pack can be used.

What do the building instructions look like?

The multilingual assembly instructions consist of text instructions and explanatory drawings. Not every detail is explained quickly and easily...
There are parts lists and colour recommendations.  Good technical imagination is required here.

No recommendations are given in the instructions for the extension to the RC model - the conversion must be done on your own - but is unproblematic thanks to the space available.
