aero-naut Kalle 2 – 1:20 scale steam tug RC kit with lots of potential for expansion
The aero-naut Kalle 2 kit is a model of a typical harbour tug from the 1920s and 1930s. With its voluminous hull, striking superstructure and classic tugboat character, it is ideal as a functional working model with clean detailing. Due to its size, the model offers plenty of space for a clear RC installation and optional additional functions.
Construction and design
The hull consists of a deep-drawn ABS plastic hull, while the superstructure is constructed from laser-cut wooden parts. In addition, brass etched parts and a comprehensive set of fittings ensure a refined appearance with many true-to-life details. The design is geared towards stable, everyday operation, while also leaving room for individual finishing touches and superstructures.
RC equipment and operation
The Kalle 2 is designed for classic RC operation with motor drive and rudder control. The kit is designed so that both a conventional brush motor and a modern brushless outrunner can be used, provided that the clutch and speed are properly matched. The driving characteristics are typical of a tugboat: powerful, controlled and with good manoeuvrability at low speeds.
There is sufficient space for additional effects:
A smoke generator can be installed as an option
Lighting can be retrofitted as an option
A real steam drive is not provided
Scope of delivery and important information
The kit includes the ABS hull, laser-cut wooden parts for the superstructure, ship's shaft system and propeller, brass etched parts, fittings and detailed building instructions (3D). As usual, adhesives, paints and RC components are required separately.
Area of application
The Kalle 2 is a ready-to-run RC model ship for ponds, lakes and harbour basins. It is particularly suitable for model builders who are looking for a characterful working ship and value detail, function and upgrade options such as lights or smoke.
