The aero-naut Prinzess Sports Boat is a replica of an elegant sports boat based on Italian models from the middle of the last century. The kit is designed as a solid wood model with a clinker construction and combines plywood structure with visible mahogany surfaces for a typical runabout look.
A key design feature is the Depron die-cut plate as a slipway, on which the frame positions are specified. This allows the frame structure to be aligned very precisely and the construction to begin in a structured and comprehensible manner.
Construction and design
The Prinzess is constructed entirely from pre-prepared wooden parts. The hull is built in the classic way from frames, stringers and planking and should be carefully sanded and completely sealed after construction to make the model permanently waterproof. For a uniform and high-quality appearance, a multi-layer varnish finish with intermediate sanding is recommended, especially on the visible mahogany surfaces.
To increase durability, it is advisable to also seal the interior of the hull and provide additional protection for areas subject to heavy wear, such as the keel zone, shaft and rudder passages. This contributes to a stable construction and long-term reliable use.
The removable interior and seat shell greatly facilitates the installation and maintenance of the drive and RC components and should be adjusted during assembly so that all components remain easily accessible later on. It is also advisable to assemble the supplied boat stand at an early stage so that the model can be safely parked during the further construction phases.
RC equipment and driving
The Prinzess is designed as a sporty motorboat. Depending on the motorisation, the spectrum ranges from quiet, realistic driving to dynamic planing. The motor, propeller and battery voltage should be specifically matched to the desired driving characteristics in order to achieve controllable and harmonious handling.
In addition to the classic shaft drive, alternative drive concepts are also possible. These are not necessary, but they demonstrate the expansion potential of the hull and the space available for individual technical solutions.
Scope of delivery and important information
The kit contains the wooden parts, fittings and ship's shaft required for construction. The motor, clutch and propeller are required separately. Clean sanding, an even coat of varnish and consistent sealing are crucial for a durable, high-quality finish, especially on the visible mahogany surfaces.
Area of application
The Prinzess is an RC model for ponds and lakes and is particularly suitable for model builders who want to build a classic sports boat with a high-quality wood look and then operate it as a functional model.
