History of the original:
The Ariadne is a classic sailing yacht from the early 20th century. It was modeled after the numerous skerry cruisers and classic wooden constructions of that time, built on a hull shape that was designed for trouble-free and efficient model sailing with classic, elegant lines. An original design by Manfred Gröning, which was further developed by Manfred Kaiser-Pletscher into an excellent kit for modern manufacturing processes.
Description of the kit:
This kit is designed as a complete kit and therefore contains the complete rig with mast, booms, sails, and all the material required for rigging the mast. The kit also contains all the fittings. An additional drive set with drive motor, shaft, and propeller is available as an option. A sail winch and remote control are also required for operation.
A high-quality laminated fiberglass hull and laser-cut and engraved plywood parts form the basis of this kit. Construction is therefore relatively simple and quick. Many fittings made of wood and etched brass give the model its classic look. The sails are pre-cut and included in the kit and only need to be reinforced with plastic strips at the edges. The jib is designed as a gaff-rigged jib. A genoa set is available as an accessory. The mast and booms are aluminum profiles. The detailed assembly instructions and a 1:1 construction plan make it easy even for advanced beginners to build this elaborate model.
The standard version comes with a pendulum jib and a winch. A retrofit kit for a genoa sail is available as an accessory. Two additional winches are required for the boomless genoa. The conversion to the genoa sail and the installation of the winches can also be carried out after the model has been completed.
