History of the original:

The Comtesse is the image of a typical sailing yacht of the 70s and 80s. These robust boats, mostly made of GRP, are still the classic image of marinas throughout Europe today. There are numerous models from various shipyards, and many original yachts can certainly be modelled on the basis of this beautifully shaped hull and equipped with numerous individual details.

Kit contents description:

This beautifully shaped yacht offers very good sailing characteristics. Demanding sailors and sailing boat enthusiasts will enjoy this model. The beautiful appearance of the boat invites you to dream. Thanks to the streamlined hull with moulded keel fin, the elegant Comtesse can reach considerable speeds even in light winds. In stronger breezes, she can be sailed with confidence, and the heavy ballast keel makes the model capsize-proof. With its simple design and balanced handling behaviour, it will make it much easier for newcomers to model sailing to get started. With Comtesse, all courses, from "cruising" against the wind to sailing "downwind", can of course be sailed effortlessly using the rudder and sail adjustment.

The kit contains a hull made of sturdy ABS and all superstructures, also moulded in ABS. Stiffeners and a model stand made of plywood. The detailed building plan and precise building instructions with many tips and hints are included.
A hardware set (not included in the basic kit) contains the many visible hardware parts, such as the steering wheel lamps and parts for the steering column, winches, railing supports and much more. The fittings for the sails and the sails are included in the kit.

It is possible to install a doldrums pusher, which is already included in the design.

The wing keel shown here is also an optional part (not included in the basic kit), which significantly improves the sailing characteristics and righting moment of the Comtesse. This keel is also a good option for many other sailing boats.

The building instructions are very detailed and include many pictures and tips on the use of adhesives. The soldering aids and auxiliary devices, which are explained in detail, are a positive feature. The instructions for rigging and setting up the rig are comprehensive. Less experienced modellers will find the instructions easy to follow. Basic sailing terms are explained.

The German building instructions have 21 pages in 11 construction stages. The instructions consist of text and plenty of illustrations.
There are parts lists, recommendations for adhesives to be used and a list of recommended accessories.
