Model ship kit sail training ship Belem, a wooden model by Artesania Latina on a scale of 1:75
History of the original:
The Belem was commissioned by the shipowner Crouan in 1896 and was used as a trading ship for cocoa, sugar and rum on the Brazil route. In 1914, the Belem was replaced by faster steamships and converted into a cruise yacht. Between 1939 and 1952, the beautiful ship was forgotten. It was not until 1980, when the Belem Foundation was established, that the ship was restored and was able to set sail again five years later. Now her successful career as a civilian sail training ship begins and she can be hired by sailing enthusiasts.
This kit from Artesania Latina is authorised by the Belem Foundation.
