Who hasn't admired these ships in museums or films and thought of the courage of their crews as they sailed inhospitable and dangerous seas. The Vikings were the first Europeans to reach America, several hundred years before Christopher Columbus!

For Artesania Latina, the Viking ship model also has a history, as in 1995 it was the first model to be launched in the acclaimed 19000 introductory series. Today, more than 25 years later, a completely revised wooden model is presented. Designed for those who want to start ship modelling or for those who already have experience and want to build a truly beautiful and emblematic model.

This kit was modelled on a shipwreck found near Gokstad. These longboats were built by the Vikings in the 9th/10th century and were propelled by sail and oar power.

Kit contents:
The kit was designed entirely in 3D and is extremely accurate. The required hull parts are made of lime wood and precisely prefabricated using the laser cut process. The hull is double planked. Lime mouldings and Sapelli veneer are used. The second panelling is intended for model building beginners, as it makes it possible to hide small errors in the first panelling. The Viking model kit contains all the wood and metal decorations required, such as the dragon heads for the bow and stern as well as fine decorations for the shields. The coloured sail is already sewn. A model stand with name plate is included in the kit and is a really nice extra.

Artesania Latina has made a special effort with the instructions for assembling the model ship. The completely digital instructions contain precise step-by-step pictures. Printed instructions are not available. The digital instructions can be downloaded free of charge from this page.
