Egyptian ship model

This ship was used during the reign of King Sahure to transport cedar and ebony from Lebanon to Egypt. The shipbuilders of this era did not use wooden nails, they relied on ropes to hold their ships together.

Keel, frames and deck were held together tightly by ropes.
