History of the original:

This cutter is a ship of English origin and was very popular with pirates and smugglers, as a small crew was sufficient and these ships are very easy and quick to manoeuvre.

In 1812, Le Renard was equipped with 10 carronades, 4 cannons and a crew of 46 men by the last and most famous buccaneer of St Malo and sent on a privateer voyage. The Renard was to have the glorious and at the same time sad fate of emerging victorious from the last pirate battle. On 9 September 1813, the English schooner "Alphea" with 16 cannons and 16 guns and a crew of 80 set out in pursuit of the Renard. After a long battle with many dead and wounded, the Renard sank the English ship and the last pirate battle was won.

Kit description:

The kit contains all the necessary components, the frames are pre-cut. Timbers and mouldings are specially selected for their use. Included are the complete superstructure, cast metal fittings, armament and all necessary sails. The German building instructions (PDF document for download) are very comprehensive, construction plan and assembly sketches help with the assembly of this beautiful model.
