Flag Ship Santisima Trinidad M 1:84

The Santisima Trinidad (officially Nuestra Señora de la Santísima Trinidad) was a Spanish ship with initially 120 guns, which were later increased to 144. It was the largest ship of its time, which is why it was nicknamed El Escorial de los Mares, and was one of the few ships of the line with four bridges that existed. Nevertheless, it was not very effective because of its clumsiness and slow navigation. She is most remembered for her tragic end at the Battle of Trafalgar (21 October 1805). She was under the command of commander Baltasar Hidalgo de Cisneros and Francisco Javier de Uriarte y Borja as flag captain. After a hard fight, she was captured by the English in very bad conditions, with more than 200 dead and 100 wounded. The English did everything they could to save the ship and bring her to the English port of Gibraltar, where she was towed by the frigates HMS Naiad and HMS Phoebe. The ship finally sank 25 to 28 miles south of Cadiz on 24 October. Symbolising the end of Spanish naval power, the greatest weapon of war of her time now lies at the bottom of the sea. Her guns were taken out and placed at the entrance of the Pantheon of the Naval School in San Fernando (Cádiz).

To create a completely new kit, we studied the plan found in Saint Petersburg and the monograph by Joaquín Rodríguez Crespo with unparalleled historical fidelity. This model accurately represents the appearance of the ship at the end of its life, at the Battle of Trafalgar, with the correct artillery. It is a perfect miniature of the flagship of the Spanish Navy.

The modeller will find parts of the highest quality in this new edition of the Trafalgar 1805 kit, also in solid wood: 14 panels of precise laser-cut lime plywood and 6 highly detailed brass photo-etched plates with parts such as lanterns, railings or details of the guns. Also 10 packs of mouldings and staves and American oak veneer. All blocks and maidens for the rigging are prefabricated. Brass rods and tubes are also included. Impressive is the number of 18 pre-sewn sails made of cotton fabric, ready to attach. Rigging twine, flag set of textured fabric and a wooden display base with a metal nameplate are all part of the kit.

With this faithful 1:84 scale replica, you can accurately depict the appearance and artillery of the Santísima Trinidad at the Battle of Trafalgar. The armament that the ship carried with 144 cannons is depicted in great detail. Modellers who want to cover the hull of the magnificent model of the Spanish ship with copper plates will find copper tape suitable for this purpose in the kit.

In addition, the model ship kit contains several paper templates to facilitate the construction of the model. Among other things, they are used to arrange the elements on the decks and to place the embrasures and other objects on the sides of the hull.
