The HMS Vanguard was Nelson's flagship at the famous Battle of The Nile on 1-2 August 1798. The Vanguard was designed by Thomas Slade and was one of fourteen 74 gun ships of the third rank, which formed the so-called Arrogant class. The ship was commissioned on 9 December 1779 and her keel was laid in Deptford on 16 October 1782. During this time, England was not at war and construction was therefore very slow. As a result, she was not completed until 6 March 1787.
The kit contains: Exclusively laser-cut wooden parts. Many etched brass detail plates which include the window frames, maiden strops and fittings, monograms, gun details many mast and yard details, piece port fittings and hinges - the list is endless.
No less than 20 1:1 construction plans showing very easy to follow rigging details. Also included are details for the sails along with the sail cloth if you wish to add the main sails to your model. The copper plates are modelled so accurately that there are different plates for the left and right sides. Furthermore, there are no protruding nail heads, only hints.
In addition to the building plans, detailed illustrated instructions in A3 are included, and further instructions help with each individual step. The kit also includes option sets that provide all the metal castings for three ships in this class. You can therefore build HMS Elephant, HMS Bellerophon or HMS Vanguard completely to scale. The plans also include recommendations for the colour scheme of each ship.

Victory Models is a co-operation between Amati and Euromodels with the aim of building models to scale. All wooden parts are laser cut or CNC machined. The fitting parts are produced in the finest cast metal quality and partly by photo etching.
