History of the original:

Tuna fishing requires robustly built boats that are easy to handle even in rough seas and that also have to be very fast. In tuna fishing, a wide variety of boat types were initially used, some of which were simply too bulky, others too slow and the sloops used later with approx. 20 tonnes proved to be too weak. This is how the present boat type 'Dundee' of approx. 50 tonnes came into being. The 'Dundee' types usually had a crew of 12 men.
The wise tuna is caught with a line. The tuna boats have 'tangoners', fishing rods about 20 metres long, attached to each side of the main mast. They are lowered during fishing. Each 'tangon' normally has 7 lines. These lines are connected to each other by a rope. This allows you to pull the tuna on board without having to lift the tangons. Two other lines are aft and there is often a third, which is attached high up on the mast. At the end of the lines is a so-called 'avancon' made of brass wire, to which the fishing hook is attached. The bait is artificial because the albacore tuna is extremely greedy. This is why the bait is often made from white hair extended with corn straw.

Kit content description:

This kit is based on the classic frame construction method. All wooden parts are precisely laser-cut. A 1:1 building plan, building instructions and all wooden, plastic and fitting parts required for assembly are included.

What do the building instructions look like?

The multilingual building instructions consist of many text instructions and explanatory drawings. Text and plan must be used in parallel.
There are parts lists and colour recommendations.  Good technical imagination is required here.
