History of the original:

Discover the wooden model of the French Doris Saint Malo. This Canadian fishing boat was used in Massachusetts and the Canadian peninsula of Nova Scotia, later it was also introduced in France, Spain and Portugal.

The ship-like doris were transported by mother ships, usually schooners, on whose decks the doris were stowed, and were then used for cod fishing on the shores of Newfoundland with one or two men.

During the day, they returned to the mother ship several times to unload their catches. Due to their robustness, low cost and easy stowage, the Doris continued to be used as workboats on sailing ships and many other motorboats.
