Short history of the HMS VICTORY

The British ship of the line HMS Victory is famous for its participation in the Battle of Trafalgar in 1805 as Admiral Horatio Nelson's flagship against the Spanish Armada. At the time, it was the largest ship in the British Royal Navy. Today it lies as a museum piece in a dry dock in the harbour of Portsmouth (Hampshire) in southern England. The English ship HMS Victory remains the flagship of the Second Sea Lord. It is all the more significant as it is the only ship of the line to have survived in original condition to this day.

HMS Victory was launched in 1765. The remaining work, such as the rigging, sails and armament, was gradually completed until the British ship of the line could be commissioned in 1778. Two years after he was given command of HMS Victory, Nelson took part in the Battle of Trafalgar, the most decisive of the Napoleonic Wars, which put an end to the French and Spanish navies and gave the United Kingdom a supremacy at sea that would last until the Second World War. Nelson did not live to see his victory, however, as he died during the battle in close combat with the Redoutable, a large French ship with 74 guns.

Designed is 1/72nd scale ship model of HMS Victory, its building system with false keel and frames and the way of construction is a miniature replica of the real British ship.
The HMS Victory model kit contains wooden parts made from high precision laser cut panels, hardwoods, brass and castings. Also included is a small display base with name slide. The copper hull fairing and 8 crew figures - including that of Vice Admiral Nelson.
