The Russian 20-gun brig Mercury was laid down in Sevastopol on 28 January 1819. She was used as a patrol ship on the coast of the North Caucasus. The Mercury was used in many naval battles and became famous under the command of
Lieutenant A. Kazarsky, who emerged victorious from an almost hopeless situation in a battle off Anatolia against considerably larger Turkish ships thanks to his exceptional bravery.
Here he benefited from the fact that the Mercury was equipped with rudder straps and could therefore fire considerably more accurate shots, which even led to one of the Turkish ships being unmasted.

All wooden parts are laser cut, many brass etched parts and decorations, special etched copper plates for the hull planking, double planking and walnut roundels for the mast and yards.
The instructions consist of 17 large building plans and over 40 pages of instructions. The carronades are laser-cut from walnut especially for this ship, the lower and upper decks are laser-engraved with the original plank layout. A set of flags true to the original and a base plate with boat stand are also included. Furthermore, Amati has spared no effort and CNC-milled the blocks especially for this model.
