OcCre Ship Models – historical wooden kits with attention to detail

OcCre Ship Models are synonymous with classic wooden model-making, historical prototypes and a wide selection of different ship kits. The Spanish model-making manufacturer specialises in particular in highly detailed wooden models of historical ships and offers models for beginners as well as extensive projects for experienced model-makers.

The range extends from small sailing and working vessels, through famous exploration ships and frigates, to large historic warships. The range is complemented by model-making tools, paints, fittings, wooden strips, rigging materials and other accessories.

OcCre wooden model kit sets for ship modelling

The classic OcCre ship model kit is usually based on the traditional frame-building method. The keel and frames form the basic structure of the hull, which is then planked with wooden strips. This is followed by decks, superstructures, fittings, masts, rigging and numerous other details.

Depending on the model, the scope of delivery may include, amongst other things, precisely cut wooden components, wooden strips for planking the hull, wooden decks and superstructures, metal and brass fittings, rigging twine, blocks, masts, yards, sailcloth, as well as construction plans and illustrated assembly instructions.

The exact contents vary depending on the kit.

OcCre thus combines traditional techniques of wooden ship model-making with pre-cut components and modern manufacturing methods. The result is models where the actual building process forms a significant part of the hobby.

Historical ships from various eras

One of OcCre’s particular strengths is the wide range of historical prototypes. Model-makers can explore ships from different centuries and nations.

The range includes, amongst others, well-known models such as HMS Beagle, Santísima Trinidad, HMS Victory, Cutty Sark, Endurance, Fram, Gorch Fock and RMS Titanic.

In addition, OcCre offers numerous lesser-known historical sailing ships, merchant ships, fishing boats and workboats.

It is precisely this diversity that makes the brand appealing to model-makers who are interested not only in building a model but also in the history of the original vessel.

From beginner’s models to elaborate large-scale projects

OcCre categorises its models into different levels of difficulty. This allows you to choose a kit that suits your own level of experience.

For beginners, there are models available where the design and number of parts remain manageable. Those who already have experience with hull planking, rigging and working with wood can tackle significantly more complex projects.

Larger OcCre model ships often feature numerous individual parts, extensive rigging and many fittings. Such models can take many weeks or months to build and offer plenty of scope for personal refinements.

Before purchasing, you should therefore not consider only the size of the finished model. The construction method, rigging and level of detail also have a significant influence on the level of difficulty.

Detailed assembly instructions and support during construction

An important component of many OcCre model kits is the detailed assembly documentation. In addition to construction plans and parts lists, the manufacturer places great emphasis on illustrated step-by-step instructions.

For numerous models, OcCre also provides video tutorials demonstrating individual stages of construction. This additional information can be particularly helpful for tasks such as hull planking, building the superstructure or fitting the rigging.

OcCre therefore does not cater exclusively to experienced model-makers. Beginners wishing to build a classic wooden ship for the first time will also find suitable models and support.

Traditional hull planking and timber construction

A key appeal of many OcCre models lies in the traditional construction of the ship’s hull.

Once the frame structure has been erected, individual wooden strips are fitted, bent and secured to the hull. Depending on the model, single or double planking may be required.

It is precisely this stage of the process that clearly distinguishes a classic wooden model-making kit from a largely pre-fabricated plastic model. Sanding, fitting and finishing are deliberately part of the construction process and allow the model-maker to have a direct influence on the final result.

Decks, masts and many other details are also made of wood, lending the finished model the typical character of a traditional ship model.

Sailing ships, warships and exploration vessels

OcCre covers numerous areas of historical seafaring.

The range of historical sailing ships is particularly extensive. These include galleons, frigates, ships of the line and other sailing vessels from the Age of Discovery and the era of the great European naval powers.

The range also features famous expedition and research vessels. Models such as the HMS Beagle or the Norwegian Fram combine model-making with a special historical background.

Well-known warships are also part of the range. OcCre offers models in various scales and levels of difficulty, allowing for the creation of both compact projects and elaborate showpieces.

OcCre accessories, paints and tools

As well as complete ship model kits, OcCre offers numerous products for the actual construction process.

These include, for example, wooden strips, rigging twine, blocks and sheaves, fittings, paints, stains, precision tools and other aids for wooden model-making.

Many of these products can be used not only for OcCre models, but also for other projects in classic ship model-making.

Wooden strips, twine and fittings are particularly well-suited for repairs, conversions or building your own custom models.
