LiFe batteries for model boats and RC modelling

LiFe batteries (lithium iron phosphate / LiFePO₄) are a robust and long-lasting power source for model boats and other RC models. They are characterised by a stable voltage and high cycle stability, and are more thermally stable than many other types of lithium battery.

In our range, you will find LiFe model-making batteries with various capacities and voltages – in particular 2S LiFe batteries at 6.6 V and 3S batteries at 9.9 V.

6.6 V and 9.9 V LiFe batteries

A LiFe cell has a nominal voltage of approximately 3.3 V. This results in:

• 2S LiFe: 6.6 V
• 3S LiFe: 9.9 V

The batteries on offer cover a range of capacities, from compact packs right up to models with 4000 mAh. This makes them suitable for both smaller models and applications with higher energy requirements.

Depending on the model’s design, LiFe batteries can be used as a drive battery, a receiver battery or a power supply for special functions. The stable voltage and robust battery chemistry are particularly advantageous for functional models.

When making your selection, you should pay attention to the following points:

• Voltage and number of cells
• Capacity
• Dimensions and weight
• Load capacity
• Connector system
• Compatibility with the motor, speed controller and RC electronics

Charging LiFe batteries correctly

For charging, a LiFe-compatible model-making charger with the appropriate LiFe charging programme should be used. For multi-cell battery packs, the balancer connection should also be used in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions.
