Boat Decks

Ready-made real wood boat decks for model shipbuilding

With a ready-made real wood boat deck, you can fit the deck planking on a model ship quickly, neatly and with a particularly even finish. Instead of laboriously laying individual wooden strips plank by plank, use a pre-assembled deck panel with visible black caulking.

Our ready-made boat decks are ideal for model shipbuilding, RC model shipbuilding, and the construction of yachts, motorboats and classic model ships. The real wood panels can be cut to fit the shape of the respective deck and then glued directly onto the deck substructure.

Real wood deck panels with realistic caulking

The boat decks consist of individual, differently coloured layers of wood that are glued together and then sanded down. This creates a uniform plank structure within the material itself, featuring black caulking joints.

The caulking replicates the joints between the individual deck planks in the model and ensures a particularly authentic appearance. This allows a very attractive deck to be created with comparatively little effort, particularly for classic yachts and high-quality model ships.

Birch, pear and mahogany

Depending on the desired look, there are various types of wood to choose from.

Birch offers a light-coloured deck with high contrast and is particularly suitable for modern and classic model boats.

Pear wood has a fine, uniform grain and is particularly popular in high-quality model shipbuilding due to its elegant wood structure.

Mahogany, with its warm, darker hue, creates a classic and high-quality look and is ideal for yachts, pleasure craft and historic model ships.

In addition, various mahogany shades are available, allowing the deck to be visually adapted to the character of the respective model.

Plank widths: 3, 5 and 7 mm

The finished boat decks are available in different plank widths of 3 mm, 5 mm and 7 mm. This allows the deck structure to be adapted to the size and scale of the respective model ship.

Narrow planks are particularly suitable for smaller models and finer scales, whilst wider planks provide a correspondingly sturdier deck structure for larger model ships and yachts.

The panels are approximately 1.5 mm thick and can be sawn, sanded and adapted to the contours of the model ship’s deck.

Pre-made boat decks instead of individual deck planks

Whilst traditional deck planking using individual wooden strips allows for maximum creative freedom, it is very time-consuming. Pre-made deck panels offer a practical alternative when an even and neatly caulked deck surface is desired.

Another advantage is the continuous plank structure. For larger decks, several boards can be joined together. The special design of the edge plank makes it easier to fit the deck panels together neatly.
