History of the original:

Chinese pirate junks, known for their uniqueness and innovative design, sailed the East Asian seas from the 3rd century BC to the 19th century AD. A tradition dating back thousands of years.
This type of ship, built from juniper and other high-quality woods, was characterised by a flat hull, a sharp bow and a swollen stern. They were often equipped with robust sails and reinforced structures that enabled them to survive both on the open sea and in coastal waters. The junks used by famous pirates such as Ching Shih were strategic vessels for controlling trade routes and attacking merchant ships.
Used as both merchant and pirate ships, junks were designed to navigate nimbly through crowded waters and with an extra-long rudder through narrow eastern harbour areas.

Their versatility and effectiveness made the junks the protagonists of numerous maritime adventures and conflicts that marked an era of naval supremacy in Asia.

Description of the kit:

The kit contains keel and frames made of 4mm plywood, laser-cut. Beech and walnut mouldings for planking the frame construction. Many wooden and metal fittings, masts, coloured decal sheets. Ready-sewn sails and bamboo wood for reinforcement. The roof for the shelter is also included in the set. All rigging material is included. The dinghies are perfectly detailed in resin. The kit also includes a small, attractive plaque with the model name.

What do the building instructions look like?

Like the construction kit, the instruction booklet has been completely revised and now consists of colourful, well-illustrated step-by-step instructions. Large plans supplement the instructions. An extra sheet contains the German translation of the individual building sections.
A large construction plan and parts lists are included.
