History of the original:

The Greek bireme is one of the most important warships of antiquity and marks a milestone in the development of seafaring. With two rows of oars superimposed on each side, it was significantly faster and more powerful than the simple moneres. Typically around 25 to 30 metres long, slender in design and equipped with a bronze ram at the bow, it was propelled by 50 to 120 oarsmen. One or two masts with square sails also enabled longer voyages under sail. Archers and spear throwers were stationed on deck, making the bireme a versatile and feared weapon in the Mediterranean.

Description of the kit:

The kit contains keel and frames made of 4 mm plywood, perfectly laser-cut. Beech and walnut strips for planking the frame construction. The fittings are quite simple, so the quality of the metal decorations is particularly important and has been carefully crafted by Amati. Rigging cord, sailcloth and pennants are included. The kit contains materials for a model stand.

What do the building instructions look like?

The kit contains two large-format construction plans with drawings and sketches and some text instructions that are more than sparse. A sheet with a German translation is included.
