Adhesives for wood and high-stress joints
For traditional wooden model shipbuilding, Aliphatic Resin Wood Glue is particularly useful. It is suitable for typical wood joints on frames, planking, decks and superstructures, and allows sufficient time for the components to be aligned neatly.
For joints subject to greater stress or those involving different materials, RC Modeller High-Strength Adhesive and Fusion Acrylic 2-component Adhesive are available. Such adhesives can be used, for example, for technical fittings, mountings or joints between different materials.
Laminating and sealing with EZE Kote and Aeropoxy
EZE Kote single-component resin can be used to seal and reinforce wooden and model surfaces. The product is particularly suitable for applications where a lightweight, sandable coating is required.
Aeropoxy laminating resin is available for traditional laminating work. When used in conjunction with suitable glass fibre cloth, it can be used, for example, to reinforce hulls, stabilise surfaces or carry out repairs.
Laminating resins play a particularly important role in the construction and restoration of model ships, where high strength combined with the cleanest possible surface is required.
Fillers for clean surfaces
Before painting, joints, uneven areas and small imperfections often need to be levelled out. Deluxe Materials offers a range of fillers for model-making and plastic surfaces for this purpose.
They are suitable, for example, for joints between hulls and superstructures, or for levelling out minor unevenness before priming and painting. Once cured, the treated areas can be sanded and further coated.
A carefully prepared surface is particularly important for model ships, as unevenness can become clearly visible after painting.
Foam Armour for foam surfaces
Foam Armour is a special sealant for foam surfaces. It can be used to make delicate foam parts more durable and to prepare them for further processing.
The product thus complements Deluxe Materials’ classic adhesives, resins and fillers with a solution for particularly delicate model-making materials.
