The PV-100W digital (Class-D) AF amplifier was specially developed for use with Beier Electronic sound modules and sound speed controllers - but can also be used with modules from other manufacturers. It enables a significantly higher output power and thus ensures a powerful and clear sound output with increased volume - ideal for demanding modelling applications.
The PV-100W works with voltages from 7 - 30 V. However, a supply voltage below 12 V is generally not very useful, as higher output power can only be achieved at higher voltages. The loudspeaker output of the sound module or sound speed controller is connected directly to the AF input of the amplifier. The AF input is galvanically isolated and no additional level converter or filter is required. However, a ferrite ring (included in the scope of delivery) must be fitted to the cable between the sound module and the AF input.
The power supply can either be provided by a battery already in the model or by a separate battery.
Up to 2 speakers with an impedance of 4 ohms each can be connected. A speaker that is too small or too weak, e.g. with only 5 W power, will not survive operation with the PV-100W for long and will burn out. We recommend installing the 4 A fuse supplied in the positive lead between the battery and amplifier.
When connecting the amplifier, use the shortest possible cables to avoid interference (e.g. humming in the loudspeaker or interference from other electronic devices). The amplifier should also be installed as far away as possible from the receiver, speed controllers and motors.
It is essential to ensure correct polarity when connecting! Reversed polarity can destroy the PV-100W!
