RTR/ARTR model boats

At the JOJO Model Shop, you’ll find a wide selection of ready-to-run (RTR) and almost ready-to-run (ARTR) model boats. Our range of ready-built RC boats extends from historic pleasure craft, racing yachts and sailing yachts right through to fully finished model racing boats for competitions.

RTR model boats

Perhaps you’re new to model-making and wondering what RTR and ARTR models are? The main difference is that our range includes scale-built model boats that are fully functional, with or without radio remote controls.

RTR is the abbreviation for ‘Ready to Run’. This means that RTR models are completely ready to run. Ready-built models of this type are often only available in limited quantities and quickly become sought-after collector’s items. Please also note that not all RTR models are the same: in some cases, rechargeable batteries, regular batteries or chargers must be ordered separately.

If you purchase a model boat from us, for example an RC sailing yacht, you will need to order rechargeable batteries and a charger separately. In most cases, however, you simply need to insert batteries into the remote control and you’re ready to head out onto the lake. These model boats are particularly popular, as your chosen model can be made ready to sail in just a few simple steps, virtually eliminating the need for time-consuming assembly work.

ARTR model boats

For those who would prefer to choose their own custom remote control for their model boat, ARTR models are an interesting option. ARTR stands for ‘Almost Ready to Run’. These are RC models that come fully pre-assembled. Various importers and manufacturers, such as Robbe and Graupner, produce highly detailed, scale-accurate and true-to-prototype models. ARTR models are supplied without a receiver or remote control.
