Premium model ship kit of the “HMS Victory” in a limited edition of 999 pieces from the manufacturer Occre
History of the original:
The HMS Victory is an outstanding British warship with a rich history, built in the 18th century and considered one of the most famous ships in the Royal Navy. Construction began in 1759, and the Victory was finally laid down in 1765. It was commissioned in 1778 and underwent various renovations and modernizations.
The Victory became best known for its remarkable role in the Battle of Trafalgar in 1805, when Admiral Nelson commanded the ship. In this decisive naval battle during the Napoleonic Wars, the British fleet defeated the combined French and Spanish fleets. Admiral Nelson lost his life, but the Victory played a key role in the victory.
The ship is a 104-gun ship of the line and was one of the most powerful warships of its time. After the Battle of Trafalgar, the Victory was not scrapped but preserved as a museum ship in Portsmouth. Today, it is the oldest warship in service in the world. Its preserved authenticity makes it a fascinating tourist attraction and an important symbol of Britain's maritime history. A visit to HMS Victory offers insights into the technology, life on board, and naval battles of the 18th and 19th centuries that had a lasting impact on the world.
Description of the kit:
This kit is something unique. During construction, special attention was paid to the hull with its frames. All frames are faithfully reproduced in oak and remain partially unplanked to allow a view of the interior of the ship. To connect the frames to the keel, a special slipway and spacer gauges are included in the kit to enable precise work. The hull is planked with linden wood from the gun decks upwards in a single layer. Mahogany is used for parts of the superstructure, while invisible joists are made of MDF and plywood. The fittings include a myriad of brass turned parts and brass castings for the decorations on the bow and stern. The brass etched parts are particularly fine details. All rigging material is of course included in the kit. The sail set is hand-sewn and fitted with rope. A truly beautiful model stand is included.
The kit is delivered in an elegant wooden box with the serial number and a collector's coin.
