Billing Boats Wasa 1:75 floor model kit
History of the original:
The Wasa was built between 1626 and 1628 by the Dutch master shipbuilder Henrik Hybertsson for the Swedish King Gustav Adolf II. She was intended to secure supremacy in the Baltic Sea. The ship had a displacement of 1400 tonnes and a huge sail area of 1150 square metres. The Wasa is one of the most famous historical ships, not least because of its tragic sinking during its maiden voyage. The wreck was only located in 1956 and salvaged between 1959 and 1961.
