Paint types

Airbrush or brush

The small cans are pre-mixed and available in countless colours. The paint can be applied with a brush or airbrush. By using colours that differ in nuance and combining them with different painting techniques, you can achieve realistic wear and tear and weathering effects that make a model look truly lifelike.

Preparation

To ensure that the paint adheres permanently to the workpiece, materials must be clean and free of grease. A primer is important for plastic or metal. A primer makes the colour appear more intense and also smoothes the surface.

Spray cans

For many model builders, spray cans are the easiest way to give a model the right colour. Be sure to choose the right colour! Special paints are required for plastics. For Styrofoam surfaces, be sure to use special Styrofoam paints. Lexan RC car bodies also require their own type of paint. UNI paints are the right choice for wood, metal and ABS plastics.

Colour

Colour names such as red or blue are broad terms. Number codes are used to determine exact colours. The RAL colour system is commonly used in Europe, but the Natural Colour System (NCS) is also widely used.

Stains
