Since when does ship model making exist?

Building the first model boat feels like a great adventure and the pride in the first finished wooden model is huge. Nevertheless, every model maker today has to accept the fact that countless like-minded people have built a similar model ship out of wood before him. The origins of ship model making are thought to have been in ancient Egypt several thousand years ago. At that time ship models were already used as burial objects. And children build toy model boats probably since the bow of the first ship touched the water. Scale models probably appeared in the 16th century. At that time, master shipbuilders had to somehow make their plans for new ships appealing to the rulers. They used the smaller replicas to illustrate their ideas.

Sailing ship, racing boat & submarine – the matching ship model kit

The range of model ships is large. In addition to a model ship made of wood or a kit for a racing boat, you can also decide on a submarine model. The requirements for skill and experience are similar for all models. As a fan of ship model making, you simply have to decide which type of model will give you the most pleasure in building and then viewing or trying it out. Sailing ships with their elegant sails and fine masts have something very elegant and are therefore utterly decorative in the showcase. Racing boats are a lot of fun, especially as functional models.

Build model boat yourself - functional models & floor models

Nowadays the do-it-yourself building of model boats has become a popular hobby. Connoisseurs differentiate between functional models and standing models. Stand models are ship replicas, which are often optically very elaborately prepared to be displayed decoratively. Functional models are technical models true to scale. They have the most important movement functions of the original and can also be used for demonstrations or observations. We offer you finished models that you can put directly into the showcase and also kits to build yourself. These can be equipped with a rc remote control if desired.
